When flying an airplane, a good landing is one from which you can walk away. A great landing is one after which they can use the plane again.

A much loved 27 year old Horsham man was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning (7th December).

Police and Ambulance were called just after 12.30am.

His full identity has not yet been released by police although he did live locally.

Anyone who saw the crash is asked to call Sussex Police's road policing unit on 0845 6070999 quoting Operation Sudbury.

Horsham is 2nd best place to live in the UK...

Horsham is the 2nd best place to live in the UK says Channel 4’s ‘The Best and Worst Places to live in the UK (shown yesterday – 26th October 2006).

Using official statistics regarding crime rates, education, life expectancy Horsham has come out on top of other towns such as Tunbridge Wells, Eastleigh & Orkney.

The statistics revealed that the average annual income is £27,000.  The life expectancy is in the top 5%: Men live on average 79.2 years and women 83 years.

We also have approximately 80 trains per day to London Victoria taking just under an hour, which makes the town very popular with commuters.

Save up to £150 on your household bills and help the environment too

Low energy light bulbs last on average 12 times longer than regular light bulbs and can save up to £9 on your annual electricity bill.

Remember – turn a light off when you leave the room to save even more!

Buy products with the ‘energy saving recommended logo’ – they are the same price as normal appliances and can save you up to £45 per year on your energy bill.

‘Standby Mode’ – Leaving appliances on standby (e.g. turning off the TV via the remote not the box) wastes approximately £740 million of electricity, not to mention the 800,000 tonnes of carbon released into our atmosphere.

Leaving an appliance in standby mode overnight not only increases your electricity bill but it is also an increased fire risk and shortens the life of the appliance by years.

Horsham 25th on List of Best Places to Raise a Family

A Readers Digest poll has ranked Horsham 25th best place in the UK to raise a family.  The results were based on family-friendly requirements such as good schools, a low crime rate, affordable family housing & high employment.

These results were then weighted, based on importance & then measured against statistics from sources such as Home Office crime figures, land registry house price figures & unemployment rates from the Office for National Statistics.  Readers Digest then ranked each area.

Horsham is already one of the most desirable places to live in the UK, it was voted 2nd place behind Winchester in the Chanel 4 poll 'Best & Worst Places to live in the UK'  in October 2006.

Help in paying your Council Tax

Help in paying your Council Tax

HELP is available to residents on low incomes who are finding it difficult paying their Council Tax.

From time to time, some residents face financial difficulties and this is something that Horsham District Council fully appreciates and offers help to those who are eligible.

Many residents are not aware that there are 23 different situations in which homes could be exempt from Council Tax.

These may include empty homes that are unfurnished, a house undergoing structural repair to make it fit for habitation, or homes that are occupied only by students or severely mentally impaired people.

A full list is available in the 'Council Tax Explained' leaflet which was recently circulated to all homes in the Horsham District, from the Council website (www.horsham.gov.uk) or from the Council's offices.

We would like to introduce you to our shopping portal www.onlineaid.co.uk which is a new fundraising website supporting the excellent charity World Vision U.K*

Let us explain:- GB Distribution is the holding organisation that has developed Online Aid for two reasons.

Firstly, it enables the British Public to access their favourite retailers with ease for any online purchases, but secondly and most importantly, by doing so, they are supporting our fundraising programme as for every purchase that is made via our website, Online Aid receives a small commission in return for our introductions to the respective merchants.100% of this commission is then forwarded to our Aid Africa organisation who then distributes these funds to our linked charity,  World Vision U.K*.
